Two arrested in Lefkosa for encouraging prostitution in the TRNC

Two young foreigners has been arrested and detained by the police for encouraging prostitution in the TRNC.

The suspects named only as ABO, 29 and ON, were arrested on Sunday and taken to a court in Lefkosa on Monday on charges of "Encouragement of Prostitution".

Testifying in court, police said one of the suspect named ABO was inside an apartment in the Ortaköy area at around 3:00pm on Sunday when two other people named MAY, 25, a female and JOE, a female reached an agreement to have sex with with one YY, 25, a male Turkish citizen for 400 TL. 

Police stated that they went to the address in question upon the tip received, and that while the police team was waiting at the door, a female resident of the same house came out of a locked room inside, came to the door screaming, and said that the male person next to her jumped out of the window and injured his hands.

The police officer announced that the suspect, who jumped and fell, was found in the parking lot of the apartment building and the ambulance was informed.

Police said that the person named ON was taken into custody together with the suspect named ABO after his treatment.

The police stated that the investigation had just begun, 10 statements had been obtained and there were still more statements to be taken, and that the mobile phones in the possession of the suspects needed to be examined, and requested 3 days for investigation purposes.
