Police get tip off, nabs man selling cocaine in Lefkosa
A man has been detained by Turkish Cypriot police after police received a tip off that he was dealing in cocaine.
The suspect named only as HK, a Turkish citizen was arrested in his home in Lefkosa on Friday after police found that he was dealing in cocaine.
Police officer who testified against the suspect in court said the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate and the Lefkcosia Police Department teams carried out a search in the home of the suspect at around 5:30pm on Friday following a tip off.
Police said during the search carried out in the suspect's apartment, they found approximately 20 grams of jute, approximately 8 grams of cocaine, approximately 2 grams of a substance believed to be a drug mixed with tobacco, two burnt-ended cigarettes believed to contain a drug mixed with tobacco, and drugs obtained from the sale of drugs.
They also found 8,000 TL cash believed to have been stolen.
Noting that the suspect was arrested with force, police stated that the seized substances would be sent for analysis and that the investigation was continuing.
They asked foe the suspect to be detained for 3 days in the first instance for more investigations to be carried out on the matter.
