Palestinians call for an investigation by the International Criminal Court in The Hague into the bombing of the Gaza hospital
While Hamas and Israel continue to blame each other for the attack on the Gaza hospital that killed at least 471 civilians and the United Nations is collecting evidence of war crimes on both sides, the Palestinians are taking the matter to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
Several hundred pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the headquarters of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on Wednesday to urge the international community to take action against what they call genocide against Palestinians.
Indeed, Hala Abou-Hassira, spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority in France, said that “the Palestinian state filed a file with the ICC on Wednesday, asking for an investigation into this crime. An international investigation is needed” into the hospital bombing in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Authority spokeswoman in France accused Israel in a press conference of deliberately targeting civilians.
“It is a systemic and systematic policy of Israel today in this aggression. Israel targets civilians wherever they are,” he said, noting that more than 3,478 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the offensive against the Gaza Strip and 62 in the West Bank.
“The genocide must stop now! How many Palestinian children and women have to die for humanity to ‘wake up’! International protection must be guaranteed to Palestinians and Israel’s impunity must be lifted,” Hala Abu Hashira said in a post.
