TRNC detains 2 doctors and 2 pharmacist for issuing fake prescriptions
TRNC authorities have arrested and launched legal proceedings against four Turkish Cypriots, two of them doctors and 2 of the pharmacists for issuing fake prescriptions.
The four suspects, consisting of 2 doctors and 2 pharmacists, were arrested within the scope of the fake prescription investigation on Thursday.
They were taken to court in Lefkosa on Friday on charges of document forgery, putting them into use and obtaining money ans goods fraudulently.
The court stated that there was another doctor wanted.
Police said the suspects named only as NP, SS, İ.T. and MA were arrested for issuing fake prescription. Police said the Social Insurance Department Director had applied to the police on September 13 on suspicion of a fake prescription which lead to a wide scale investigation.
It was stated that 180 thousand prescriptions written since January were examined of which 55 million TL was paid in return for them.
Police said statement will be taken from 75 people regarding the investigation of which only 12 have been questioned.
Police said their bank accounts, office computers, mobile phones, prescriptions and hand writing samples will be examined.
They were ordered to be detained for 3 days for more investigations to be carried out on the matter.
