Sri Lankan man detained for for breaking and entering into girlfriend's apartment without her consent

A Sri Lankan national has been arrested and detained for 3 days for breaking and entering into his girl friend's apartment without her consent.

The incident happened at around 11:30pm on Saturday September, 9 at Kanlıköy, Lefkosa when the suspect named only as SMS who was under the influence of alcohol broke into his girlfriend's property without her consent.

The suspect was arrested at the apartment on Saturday and taken to court on Sunday on charges of "deliberate damage to property".

Police told the court that the suspect broke the door of his lover's house and entered the residence without permission.

Police said the suspect said he committed the act because the victim did not meet with him.  

Police said that an investigation has been launched against the suspect and there are statements to be taken and camera footage to be obtained.  

The police officer stated that the necessary investigation would be carried out regarding the status of the suspect and demanded that he be detained for 3 days.
