Bomb explodes outside a business premisis in Lefkosia
A Turkish Cypriot man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a bomb attack at a business premises in the Küçük Kaymaklı on Tuesday night.
The bomb was left outside the premises of Emlak Dünyası located on Özker Özgür Street. Police said that the bomb exploded at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday night.
The explosion damaged the display windows and the interior walls. Fire fighters quickly intervened and the building was cordoned off by the police.
No one was hurt in the attack.
Police said, they found that a motorcycle person with a helmet on his head approached the entrance of the workplace and that there was an explosion 15 minutes after he left a package.
Residents said the violent explosion was felt in all houses in the region.
The suspect, Murat Şerifoğlu (39) who was arrested on charges of causing the explosion, was taken to court in Lefkcosia.
Police said they are examining the remains of the bomb to determine what kind of materials were used in the device.
The court ordered that he be detained for two days pending police enquiries.
