Four people caught with drugs during traffic inspection in Girne

Four people were identified and arrested during police inspection in Girne on Saturday night after drugs were found during a search.

The four suspects named only as FD, Ş.M., İ.B. and MF all Turkish citizens were found with drugs during traffic control at the Girne - Boğazköy junction by a team of Crime Prevention around 7:30pm on Saturday.

The vehicle used by the suspects was stopped by the police due to suspicion created when they tried to divert their vehicle from the road leading to the police check point.

They were arrested and taken to court on Sunday on drug charges.

Police said they found a substance believed to be approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine-type drugs, a substance believed to be approximately half a gram of jute cannabis in a white paper, 1 rolled-up cigarette with a burnt tip believed to contain a synthetic Cannabinoid-type narcotic substance mixed with tobacco, drugs on it, a scissors believed to contain a substance and a glass pipe believed to contain drug residues following a search on the vehicle.

Police said the verbal statements made by the suspects will be confirmed as investigation continue into the incident. 

They demanded the suspects to be detained for 3 days for investigation purposes.
