TRNC Met office warns residents to stay away from the sun from 12-4pm
As the "Cleon' heat wave hit Cyprus, the island's Meteorological Departments have issued a warning to residents to take caution and avoid staying too long under the sun.
Due to the heat wave, the temperature on the island is 4 to 7 degrees above seasonal norms.
The TRNC Met office on Monday issued a 'purple' color ('highest risk') warning of ultraviolet radiation in the island. Accordingly, it is recommended not to stay in the sun for more than 5 minutes from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
Another warning announced in the north was the risk of "forest fire". The Department has issued an "orange" warning on this matter.
Also, the Cyprus (south) authorities issued two separate weather warnings, 'red' for fire risk and 'yellow' for temperature.
The warning is valid until 6.00pm on Monday.
Temperatures are expected to remain unchanged for the next three days and remain well above seasonal averages.
***We hope there will not be power cuts today.
