Man accused of sexual assault while trying a belt on a woman

A man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman while trying a belt at a fair in Lapta.

The incident happened at around 10:30pm on Saturday July, 8 at the Lapta fair. 

The suspect identified only as AG, was arrested after a complaint was mad and taken to court on Sunday on charges of sexual assault.

Police who testified in court said the suspect was selling at the stand he opened at the traditional fair in Lapta on Saturday when he sexually assaulted a woman named EK, who was there as a customer, while he was trying on the belt.

The suspect, told the court that he did not accept the allegations, did not do such a thing against the woman, only that the belt touched the woman while he was putting the belt around his waist to try it on.

Police said investigation into the matter is continuing, that there are camera footage that needs to be examined and statements that need to be taken, as well as statements made by the suspect and that should be investigated.

The suspect was detained in police custody for 3 days on court order.
