Fatal accident in north Cyprus: Identities of accident victims revealed
The identities of those who died in an accident on the Girne - Değirmenlik Highway early Monday morning have been identified.
40-year-old Pratapbhai Bhuabai Karavadra, male, 21-year-old male Jayesh Keshu Agath, 21-year-old females Anjali Makwana and Pushtiben Heenaben Pathak were identified as the victims of the accident that happened at around 3:40am on Monday, July, 3 between the 8-9 kilometers of the Girne - Değirmenlik Highway.
Hüseyin Taşer and Burak Tokgün, who were passengers in the same vehicle, were injured and taken to the Lefkosa State Hospital.
Police said the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident, Pratapbhaı Bhuabhaı Karavadra was driving towards Girne when he collided with another car coming in the opposite direction and driven by Hüseyin Taşer as he carelessly switched to the right side of the road.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the vehicle, Pratapbhaı Bhuabhai Karavadra, and other passengers in the vehicle Jayesh Keshu Agath, Anjali Makwanave Pushtiben Heenaben Pathak, lost their lives at the scene.
Hüseyin Taşer, 56, the driver of the other vehicle and Burak Tokgün, 35, who was a passenger in the same vehicle were injured and currently receiving treatment.
TRNC's ‘transport minister’ Erhan Arikli said “normally the first
cause of accidents is speed and alcohol. Even if the roads are perfect,
accidents are inevitable when speed and alcohol are involved”.
