Turkish man assault 3 Greek Cypriot police officers at crossing point
A Turkish man on Tuesday attacked and injured three Greek Cypriot police officers at the Ledra street crossing point between north and south Cyprus after being denied entry into the south.
According to Greek Cypriot police report, the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when a Turkish man tried to cross over from the north, but was stopped from entering the south after it was determined that he had entered the TRNC illegally and had no papers.
The man reportedly remained at the crossing point and later attempted to force his way through but was intercepted by the officers, showing resistance.
Three officers – a man and two women – were all injured as a result. The man was then arrested and taken to a police station for further investigation.
