Tupac Shakur to be honored with posthumous star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame
The ceremony will be taking place on Wednesday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. PT at 6212 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood.
The hip-hip icon’s sister Sekyiwa ‘Set’ Shakur will be on hand to accept the star in the ‘recording’ category on behalf of her brother, which will be 2,758th to be dedicated on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame since the first star was laid in March 1960.
iHeart Media radio personality Big Boy will serve as emcee of the dedication, while guest speakers will include film director Allen Hughes and Columbia University Professor Jamal Joseph.
Hughes helms the new documentary Dear Mama: The Saga Of Afeni And Tupac Shakur, which follows the legacies of the hip-hip legend and his Black Panther Party activist mother, while Joseph serves as an executive producer.
While Shakur (born Lesane Parish Crooks), who was 26 at the time of his death, was best known to many of his fans during his lifetime as a rapper on four studio albums, he has since gone on to be recognized as a poet, activist and revolutionary.
