Man injured in accident in Lefkosa, driver flees accident scene

One person was injured in a traffic accident involving 3 vehicles in the Lefkosia Organized Industrial Zone, near Atatürk Sports Hall on Monday afternoon. 

The accident happened at around 1:55pm on Monday when 3 vehicles collided in the Lefkcosia Organized Industrial Zone, near Atatürk Sports Hall.

One of the vehicle drivers fled the scene.

Police said the missing driver who is yet to be identified was driving recklessly when he entered Sanayi Street via the 8th Street, just when Özkan BİŞMİŞ was driving from the north of the road to the south. In the process he hit Özkan BİŞMİŞ's car on the left which threw the vehicle forward uncontrollably due to the impact of the collision and then crashed into another vehicle coming in the opposite direction.

Özkan Bişmiş, 67, who was trapped in a vehicle and seriously injured, was rescued by firefighters and ambulance crews, and then taken to the Lefkcosia State Hospital.

The police announced that they are looking for the driver of one of the vehicle involved in the accident who fled from the accident scene.
