Cyclist killed in accident on the Famagusta-Lefkosa main road

A cyclist died after he was hit by a careless driver on the Famagusta-Lefkosa main road on Friday afternoon.

The fatal incident happened at round 12:50pm on Friday around Türkmenköy, on the Famagusta-Lefkosa main road.

Police said the victim, Cemal Karadağ, 48, a Turkish citizen was riding on the first lane on the left side of the road when he was hit by a car driven by one Elena KRASULINA, 42 in front of Kale paint, near Aslanköy junction. 

Cemal, who was seriously injured as a result of the accident, died at the Lefkosa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where he was rushed to for treatment. 

The driver of the vehicle, Elena KRASULINA, has been arrested and the investigation continues.

With today's accident, this year's loss of life in traffic rose to 25.
