Cameroonian woman about to be deported from south Cyprus release on court order
A Cameroonian woman, who was in north Cyprus for study but crossed into south Cyprus illegally and was about to be deported was released on court order.
The Cameroonian woman whose identity was not mentioned came to north Cyprus for education on September, 15, 2022 and then entered south Cyprus illegally on September, 18 through “Athienu” (Kiracıköy) where she was caught and arrested by Greek Cypriot police for illegal crossing.
She was imprisoned for 9 months and was about to be deported this week when a court decision was made to release her.
It was reported that the Cameroonian had in defence stated that she was "incorrectly found in the Athienu (Kiracıköy) region."
The court order also stated that "the mistakes and shortcomings made one after another by the relevant authorities that showed the carelessness of the decision to issue a detention order."
