Zimbabwean student who fell from apartment building in Gonyeli arrested for staying in TRNC illegally

A Zimbabwean student who was injured after falling down from the window of an apartment building in Gonyeli on Sunday while trying to vomit has been arrested and detained for living illegally in the TRNC.

The incident happened at around 6:30am on Sunday in Gonyeli when the victim, Takudzwa Arnold Gada, 26 lost his balance and fell to the ground from a height of 7 and a half meter while trying to vomit from the window of an apartment building in Gonyeli. 

He was taken to the Lefkosa State Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

He was arrested after his treatment and taken to court on Tuesday, May, 9, on charges of living in the TRNC illegally without a permit.

Police said he has been living illegally in the TRNC for 2,038 days.

The court demanded that he remain in police detention for 3 days as investigation into the matter continues.
