TRNC records 96 accidents in one week and 1 person death
One person died and 31 people were injured in 98 traffic accidents recorded in the last one week in the TRNC.
According to information released by the police on Monday, 27 of the traffic accidents that occurred during the period covering 1-7 May were caused by speed, 21 by careless driving, 16 by not stopping at the intersection, 15 by close monitoring and 17 by other factors.
While the total amount of damage caused by the accidents is 4 million,128,300 TL, the distribution of the accidents by districts is as follows;
Lefkosia 42, Famagusta 14, Kyrenia 24, Güzelyurt 7, Iskele 9.
On the other hand, 11,208 vehicle drivers were checked during the traffic controls carried out by the police across the country between 1-7 May and 867 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes were reported.
The distribution of crimes is as follows:
“Speeding (340), Dangerous Driving (11), Reckless Driving (34), Driving Without a Navigation License (42), Driving Without a Driving License (3), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (30), Using a Cell Phone While Driving (99), Driving Without a Seat Belt (44), Not Following Traffic Signs and Signs (97), Not Following Traffic Lights (6), Driving Without Inspection (11), Driving Without Insurance or Out of Scope (18), "A" Road Driving Unauthorized Driving a Vehicle (3), "B" Private Business Driving without Permission (2), Carrying More than its Tonnage or Dangerous Cargo (1), Riding a Motorcycle Without a Protective Helmet (5) and 121 other traffic offenses.”
