Three held for smuggling over 900 kilos of contraband meat from south Cyprus

Turkish Cypriot police said last night, it arrested a 34-year-old man and two others for smuggling contraband meat into the TRNC from south Cyprus. 

The three suspects were stopped for a search at around 10:00pm on the Girne Mountain Road roundabout in Demirhan on Thursday, May, 18 due to its suspicious movement.

Police said 590 kilograms of frozen veal liver, 302 kilograms of frozen lamb tail fat and 18 kilograms of frozen lamb meat illegally imported from the south of Cyprus were recovered from them.

The driver of the vehicle, S.Ç., 34 was arrested along with two other individuals, BK, 46 and MW, 27 who were found to be related to the issue.
