Man who was given pardon from being deported from the TRNC pulls knife at police officer
A man who was about to be deported from the TRNC and was pardoned by the government has been arrested and detained for trying to stab a police officer with a knife.
The suspect identified as Mustafa Gargınsu, was arrested and taken to court on Wednesday on charges of preventing a police officer from doing his job, carrying a gun with the purpose of intimidation, carrying a knife unlawfully, use of fowl language, drunkenness, causing of disturbance, inappropriate attitude and movement.
Police said the suspect was formerly expelled from the country for his crimes and later pardoned by the decision of the council of ministers.
Police said the suspect threatened the police saying; "did you see the knife, so you'll run away" after using a fowl language, making an uncomfortable attitude and behaving inappropriately by waving both hands up and down. The suspect continued to shout loudly, ignoring the policemen who warned him in the Lefkosia Judicial Branch, where he had come. Police said that he was arrested with force.
Police said the investigation regarding the matter has just started and that there are indications, statements to be taken and camera footage being sought regarding the matter, and demanded that the suspect be detained for 2 days, since it is highly likely that if the suspect is released, it will have a negative impact on the investigation.
