Student caught with fake Swedish passport at Ercan Airport

A 28-year-old student will face trial in north Cyprus after she was caught and arrested at Ercan Airport for trying to exit the country with a Swedish passport issued in the name of another person .

The incident happened at around 6:50am on Sunday, April, 30.

The suspect named only as MBM, 28 who is a student in the TRNC was tying to exit the TRNC via the Ercan Airport when it was discovered at the point of boarding that she was carrying a Swedish passport issued in the name of another person.

She was arrested and taken to a court in Lefkosa on Monday on charges of impersonation and attempt to obtain a record by false behavior.

Police told the court that the suspect said she obtained the said passport from a male person whose name she did not know.

Police stated that the investigation was continuing and demanded that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
