Five people injured as two vehicles collided in accident on the Kyrenia - Tatlısu road, another in Lefkosa

Five people were injured in a traffic accident on the Kyrenia - Tatlısu road on Wednesday morning as two vehicles collided and suddenly burst into flames due to the impact of collision.

The accident happened at around 5:00am on Wednesday on the Kyrenia - Tatlısu road.

Police said the driver of one of the vehicle, Timur İlmaz, lost control of the steering close to an intersection while driving towards Tatlısu and switched to the right lane colliding with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the collision. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Brigades but both vehicles were completely burned.

The driver of the two vehicles, Timur Ilmaz and Lu Chao, and passengers in both vehicles were injured in the accident.

In another similar incident, three people were injured following a traffic accident in Lefkosa.

The accident happened close to the Alpet Traffic lights on Dr Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkosa when Mert Yılmaz Denizhan, 20 lost control of his vehicle and hit a car coming in the opposite direction.

Police said Mert Yılmaz Denizhan lost control of the vehicle after driving past the Alpet Traffic Lights due to carelessness. He then crossed over the barrier on the middle of the road on to the opposite lane and at the same time collided with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.

This caused the vehicle to be blown away upon impact and landed on its roof.

The driver and two other people in the vehicle were injured in the accident.
