Power outage across North Cyprus on Monday morning
There was a brief power outage across the TRNC on Monday morning due to unconfirmed reason.
The power outage began at 10.50 am on Monday and lasted for at least 30 minutes.
Secretary-General of the electrical workers’ union El-Sen Ahmet Tugcu, stated that four generators at Teknecik failed because they had not been maintained in a timely fashion.
However, Kib-Tek Chairman of the Board Hüseyin Pasha blamed the union’s indefinite strike for the power cuts.
Also, the General Manager of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), Dalman Aydın, announced that the power cuts in many regions throughout the country are not due to malfunctions.
In his statement to BRT, Aydın said that there was an intervention in the interconnected system during today's action and that the system shut down in order to protect itself as a result of the sudden frequency change caused by this intervention.
Did you experience the power outage in your area?
