71 traffic accidents, 20 injuries reported in the last one week

A total of 71 traffic accidents occurred in the TRNC in the last one week.

According to police report, a total of 71 traffic accidents occurred in the country during the period covering April, 3-9.

20 people were injured in the accidents and 56 accidents resulted in damage. 

22 of the accidents were caused by driving fast, 12 of them were due to careless driving, 14 of them were not stopping at the intersection, 12 of them were following close and 11 of them were other factors.

The total amount of damage caused by the accidents was recorded as 3 million 255,000TL.

The distribution of accidents by districts is as follows: “Lefkosia 30; Famagusta 13; Kyrenia 19; Guzelyurt 6; Pier 3”     

On the other hand,  it was stated that a total of 10 thousand 963 vehicle drivers were checked as a result of the traffic controls carried out by the police across the country between April 3 and April 9, and 1132 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes were reported and legal action was initiated against them.

The distribution of the crimes committed by the drivers, about whom a report is filed, is as follows:

“Speeding (287), driving without a license to navigate (188), using a mobile phone while driving (170), failing to comply with traffic signs and signs (69), driving without inspection (58), driving without a seat belt (55), uninsured or covered driving outside (45), driving under the influence of alcohol (39), reckless driving (25), driving without a driving license (11), dangerous driving (10), not obeying traffic lights (5), “A” road use, driving without a permit (5), riding a motorcycle without a protective helmet (5) and 160 other traffic offenses.”
