Four students arrested for trying to enter south Cyprus illegally
Four students including two males and two females who tried to enter south Cyprus illegal have been arrested and taken to court.
The four suspects identified only as NNW, PM, PPJ and EVP, 29 who agreed to cross to south Cyprus from the 'illegally' in exchange for money were arrested and taken to court on Thursday, March, 23 on charges of "forming a secret alliance to commit a crime".
They were identified and arrested by the police during an operation carried out by the Lefkosa Police Department Crime Prevention Branch in Yılmazköy underpass of the Lefkosa - Güzelyurt main road on Wednesday, March, 22.
The four suspects were found in the vehicle of one of the suspect identified as NNW. The other three suspects had agreed to pay 50 Euros to be taken to the border in order to enable them to cross to the south of Cyprus illegally
Police said it was determined that he had left the suspects in a region close to the border.
The police on Friday, March, 24 said that the investigation against the suspects regarding the matter had been completed and demanded that they be bound by guarantees that the court deems appropriate in order to ensure that they are available for their trials.
Evaluating the the testimony given in court, the judge released the driver of the vehicle, NNW on bail, banned him from going abroad until he was tried, sign a bail bond of 200,000TL, deposits 30,000 TL in cash, and report to the police 4 days a week.
The other suspects were ordered to be detained as a null detainee for a period not exceeding one day.
