A 65-year-old Turkish Cypriot man has been charged to court for allegedly sexually abusing his relative's 14-year-old daughter.

The suspect identified on;y as SK, 65 was arrested earlier in the week and taken to court on Tuesday on charges of sexual abuse.

Police in a statement said the committed the allege crime between 2018 and 2023 in Kyrenia

The police stated that the victim was sexually harassed by the suspect, who is a relative of the 14-year-old cild.

The incident was reported to the police on March, 2, 2023.

Police stated that the girl recorded the suspect showing his genitals in March 2023.

The police noted that the images in question were examined and there were facts related to the alleged crime. Police said investigation that could affect the suspect has been completed.

While the suspect's lawyers demanded a pending trial, they demanded that the images in question were spread on the internet by the complainant and that an investigation should be initiated in this direction.

The prosecution stated that the crime of sexual harassment envisages up to 2 years in prison and demanded that the 65-year-old, TRNC citizen, be released on bail and to be tried in the future.

He was banned from leaving the country and to present two guarantors to sign a bail bond of 200,000 TL each.
