Total of 48 Turkish Cypriots rescued from the Turkiye's earthquake
After a 6-day rescue effort, the bodies of the entire volleyball group from the TRNC who were trapped under the Isias Hotel in Adıyaman, Turkey has been found.
Eight more bodies were recovered from the wreckage on Saturday.
A statement by the Prime Ministry reads; As a result of the search and rescue efforts carried out in the wreckage of the Isias Hotel in Adıyaman after the earthquake disaster in Turkey, we have reached the bodies of the last two of our brothers among the TRNC group. With these losses, the number of TRNC citizens we lost in Adıyaman has increased to 35. The number of TRNC citizens we lost in Turkey in general has reached 48. Our teams there continue to work to reach everyone in distress and extend a helping hand. May God have mercy on our brothers and sisters, we express our condolences to all our people.A Turkish Cypriot man, Evden Çavdır, who was rescued from the wreckage of the Isias Hotel in Adıyaman, Turkey and taken to the hospital passed away on Saturday despite all the interventions.
He was rescued by the TRNC search team from the wreckage of Isias Hotel on Saturday.
This brings the total loss of TRNC citizens in Adıyaman to 35 while the total number of TRNC citizens that was lost throughout the country rose to 48.
On Saturday, 11 members of Famagusta Turkish Maarif Colleg who lost their lives in the wreckage of the Isias Hotel were buried in Famagusta Cemetery after a funeral ceremony was held at the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque for Famagusta Turkish Maarif College students.
15 dead bodies were returned to the TRNC last night.
TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has announced that they are taking every precaution against those who cause people to lose their lives with their illegal constructions in Turkey.
They took all necessary precautions in consultation with the authorities of the Republic of Turkey regarding the buildings they built by stealing from their materials, which turned into a wreckage and became a graveyard for our people and who fled to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to escape justice, or who will try to escape, that the Ministry of Interior took action on the matter and that the Prime Ministry is following the developments closely. "We will not allow anyone who has tried to take their lives to escape from justice.
