Some Turkish Cypriot pupils, teachers still missing in Turkey after deadly quake

Several number of Turkish Cypriot pupils who were on a school trip in Turkey when the devastating earthquake struck on Monday are still missing.

According to media reports in the TRNC, the number of those missing has not yet been made clear.

A group of volleyball student-athletes were in Adıyaman to participate in a sports-related event, when the hotel named İsias Hotel where they were staying collapsed on the night of the earthquake that killed over 3,000 people.

Meanwhile, a group of 18 people, consisting of Canbolat Özgürlük Secondary School students and teachers, arrived in the TRNC on Monday evening.

The convoy was greeted with applause and tears.

Alongside their families, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı and some ministers welcomed the students.

Meanwhile, Şeyma Köse and her baby Poyraz from the Yedikonuk Village were also caught in the earthquake in Antakya-İskenderun.

Unfortunately, there was sad news regarding Şeyma Köse and her baby Poyraz from the Yedikonuk village.

Şeyma Köse and her baby Poyraz could not be saved despite all efforts to rescue them.
