Some dozens of Turkish Cypriot children still trapped under the rumble in Turkey's earthquake

As at Wednesday, February, 8, three days after a devastating earthquake shook Turkey and Syria, some dozens of Turkish Cypriot children still remained buried under the rubble.

Most of the Turkish Cypriots children are secondary school students, who were in Adiyaman for a volleyball tournament. The group is stuck under the rubble of the Isias hotel where they were lodged.

Speaking about the Adiyaman quake, which trapped the Turkish Cypriot students under the hotel, one of the survivors Berna Tavis said that the hotel fell like “a house of cards”.

Commenting on the phone in a television show, Tanis said that she was rescued alone with the help of her friends. She had seen the children and had been told they were volleyball players, she added.

Tanis is a tour guide, just like Anil Zeybek, who was rescued during the night by the rescue crews who have been searching through the ruins of the hotel for three days to locate the Turkish Cypriot students and parents.

Meanwhile, a funeral for one of the seven Turkish Cypriots reported dead so far, rescue worker Amac Arnavutoglu was held on Wednesday in Lefkosa.

TRNC Minister of Education, Nazım Çavuşoğlu on Wednesday announced that the dead body of 1 more person was found this morning from the wreckage of the Isias Hotel, adding that the work on the wreckage continues. "All we want is to reach the children, to reunite them with their families, said the Minister.
