No online schools for universities in the TRNC - Prime Minister
TRNC Prime Minister, Ünal Üstel has stated that universities in north Cyprus will continue their education face to face, dismissing rumors of online school as lies.
Üstel in a statement on Friday regarding the news that universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will restart their education via online classes said, “Universities switching to online education is not on our government’s agenda.”
Üstel stated that although news has been circulating in some media outlets that universities in the TRNC will switch to online education due to the earthquake disaster in Türkiye, this issue is not on the agenda of the government.
“Our government has authorized the Ministry of National Education to conduct necessary consultations with universities in order to alleviate the problems experienced by our students living in earthquake zones and of students studying at TRNC universities,” said Üstel, adding that the first consultations with universities by the Ministry of National Education will take place on Tuesday.
“We will share the decisions taken by the Ministry of National Education once the consultations have been completed with the universities as soon as we can. However, I would like to reiterate that this issue is not on the government’s agenda” said Üstel.
