Alternating power cut observed across the TRNC
Regular power cut returned to the TRNC on Tuesday leaving many household in cold and darkness.
The power cuts were as a result of a malfunction experienced in two units at the AKSA power plant.
Kib-Tek’s Chairman of the Board Hüseyin Pasha stated that there was no shortage of fuel at the Teknecik power station and stocks would last for six weeks, after a fuel delivery was made.
He said there had been an increase in the demand for electricity because of a drop in air temperatures.
Meanwhile, the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees Union (EL-SEN) said the cuts will continue.
We regret to say that the cuts seem to continue due to the lack of energy production. As before, Aksa wants to extend its contract by using the same methods as before, leaving our country and people without energy, as the contract expiration date approaches, El-Sen Secretary General Ahmet Tuğcu said in a statement.
On Wednesday, some areas in Lefkosa was left without electricity for over 3 hours.
