40 traffic accidents occurred last week, 10 people injured

The Police Press Officer announced that 10 people were injured in 40 traffic accidents that took place in the last one week with speeding the leading cause of traffic accidents.

According to a statement made by the Police Press Officer, 40 traffic accidents occurred in the country between February 6 and February 12.  

While 34 of these accidents resulted in damage and 6 in injury; A total of 10 people were injured. 12 of the accidents were caused by speeding, 9 of them were due to careless driving, 6 of them were not stopping at the intersection and 7 of them were due to other factors. As a result of the accidents, 1 million 151 thousand TL damage was incurred.

The distribution of accidents by district is as follows:

“Nicosia – 17; Famagusta – 7; Kyrenia – 9; Guzelyurt – 2; Iskele – 5”    

On the other hand, 6,440 vehicle drivers were checked during the traffic controls held in the same period, and 564 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes were reported and legal action was initiated against them.

The distribution of crimes is as follows:

“Speed ​​– 137; dangerous driving – 5; reckless driving – 12; driving an unlicensed vehicle -118; driving without a driving license – 3; drunk driving -5; talking on a mobile phone while driving – 71; driving without a seat belt – 19; non-compliance with traffic signs and signals – 31; not obeying traffic lights – 2; driving without inspection – 45; driving without insurance or without coverage – 20; "a" road use unauthorized driving - 3 and 93 other traffic offenses.”
