Nigerian student who fell from a building in Haspolat after he was threatened with an axe is dead

23-year old Nigerian student, Chukwudi Oliver NWAUUISI, who was seriously injured after falling from a height of 11 meters from an apartment building in Haspolat after he was threatened with an axe has died from his injuries.

He died at around 11:15pm on Wednesday.

Chukwudi Oliver NWAUUISI has been hospitalized at the intensive care unit of the Lefkosa State Hospital since, January, 10. 

The incident happened at around 1:00pm on Tuesday, January, 10 at Belediye Evleri Apartments on Second Street, Haspolat following a dispute with two Nigerian students.

Chukwudi went to discuss house rent deposit issue in the hall room of the apartment when the suspects reportedly showed him a wooden-handled axes and frightened him which made him to jump from the open balcony of the house to the concrete floor.

According to report, to make him talk, they frightened him with an axe which made him to jump from a height of 11 meters from his apartment balcony.

He was seriously injured and was rushed to the Lefkosa State Hospital intensive care unit where he's was battling for his life due to the life-threatening injury he sustained in the fall.

The two suspects identified only as IE, 30 and AA, 23 who fled to south Cyprus after the incident were later arrested on Saturday, January, 21, and handed over to TRNC authorities by the Bi-Communal Technical Committee on Crime and Crime Issues through the Kermiya crossing point and arrested afterwards.

Police said the suspects were residing in the flat where the incident happened and had given Chukwudi Oliver Nwauuisi the apartment.

A third suspect identified only as FN, 28 was arrested on Wednesday, January, 25 for helping the suspects escape to the south on Wednesday, January, 11.
