Man who secretly recorded conversation with police to face trial
A Turkish Cypriot man who reportedly disclosed a secretly recorded call with the police has been released on bail following his arrests.
The suspect identified only as AI reportedly disclosed a secretly recorded conversation he had with a police sergeant on January, 3.
Police said he recorded the phone conversation he had with the police sergeant without the consent of the other party.
He was taken to court on charges of “Violating the Privacy of Private Life and Violation of Communication Confidentiality”.
Police said that three separate mobile phones were seized as evidence regarding the incident. Police stated that the investigation that could affect the suspect was completed and demanded that the suspect be released on bail.
The judge ordered the suspect to be released on bail and tried in the future. He is banned from leaving the country, to report to the police station 2 days a week, deposits 15,000 TL in cash, and two credible TRNC citizen guarantors to sign a personal bail bond worth 200,000TL.
