Car theft caught on camera in north Cyprus
A rental car theft was caught on camera as it was being stolen outside a villa on the Esentepe Carrington Estate, north Cyprus while the occupants were abroad.
According to the report by Yeniduzen, the theft was recorded by security cameras in the house. The camera footage shows the car thief forcing open the left-hand door and then opening the driver -side door and starting the engine.
The car which belonged to Cyprus Pines Rent-a-Car company, was a blue Toyota with vehicle registration number ZUG589.
It was stolen at around 11.30pm on Saturday January, 7, from in a villa in the region between Bahçeli and Tatlısu, a few hours after the people who rented the vehicle went abroad.
The owner of the car rental company Yakup Yücel begged the public who has seen the vehicle to report it to their nearest police station.
The car was later found parked on a construction site on Monday.
Announcing that the vehicle was found, Cyprus Pines Rent a Car company Director Yakup Yücel stated that it's 'red plates and keys' were missing.
Making a statement on social media, Yücel said, "Our complaint continues and we hope that the thief is caught."
The police have made no comment on the car theft as yet.
