"Asian Tiger Mosquito" detected in Kyrenia

The TRNC Ministry of Health has announced that the Asian tiger mosquito has been detected in one of the "adult mosquito traps" set up in Kyrenia. 

In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry said necessary measures were taken by the health teams of the Department of Basic Health Services. 

It is stated that the fly in question causes Dengue Fever, West Nile, Yellow Fever, Zika and Chikungunya viruses, especially allergic reactions.

The Ministry offered the following suggestions to the citizens to prevent the reproduction of the fly:

"Aedes can multiply and develop in small puddles. It is very important to identify the breeding and living areas in our house, garden and balcony and take simple precautions there.

The pots under the pots, the ornamental pools, the water we leave for the animals are the easiest breeding grounds for these mosquitoes. All we have to do is change these waters once a week.

The Department of Primary Health Care of the Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance that our citizens should pay attention to prevent the formation of mosquito breeding areas by emptying tanks and similar containers that are filled with water due to rains.
