Tuesday is public holiday as TRNC mark it's 39th anniversary
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will mark it's 39th anniversary on Tuesday November 15 with Air shows, parades, and Ottoman band street concerts.
These and other activities this week will be rolled out to celebrate the TRNC’s anniversary.
The 39th anniversary of the republic, which was proclaimed on November 15, 1983, will also be a national holiday, meaning public offices and banks will be closed for the day.
Celebrations will kick off at noon on Monday with an address to the nation by President Ersin Tatar on Bayrak Radio Television.
At the same time a 21 gun salute will take place.
A ceremony will be held at 9:30am on Tuesday at the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük’s mausoleum in Lefkoşa. The main parade at the Dr Fazıl Küçük Boulevard will begin at 10am. Following the exchange of messages, flags from Lefke and Erenköy will be presented to President Ersin Tatar.
The highlight of the annual event will be when the Solo Türk F-16 jet roars through the skies above Girne’s yacht harbour and seafront promenade in an aerobatic display set to take place on Tuesday.
As part of the 39th anniversary celebrations, Turkish Naval Forces Command combat elements TCG Gediz, TCG İmbat and TCG Çanakkale will make a port visit in the TRNC, and the ships will be opened to the public.
Some major routes in Lefkosa and other parts of the country will be closed to traffic.
After the Janissary band performance from the National Defence Ministry the official parade will begin.
