House collapses in Lefkosia city Center
The wall of an adobe house on Pençizade Street, 150 meters southeast of the Presidency in Lefkosia collapsed at around 6.30 am today.
While there was no death or injury in the incident, a car parked on the side of the road and the garage and water tank of another building on the side of the building were damaged as a result of the collapsed building.
A family, including four children were inside the building, however, they managed to escape unhurt. The mother said that everything happened at once and all she could think of was saving the children.
The mother, who was at home with her four children at the time of the demolition of the house and stated that they could barely get themselves out of the dust and soil, explained that they had been a tenant here for about 3 years.
Part of the house collapsed, allowing the family to salvage some of their belongings later on.
Police have cordoned off the street and municipal teams are working to clear the debris and help to retrieve the occupants belongings.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
