18 people detained in Cryptocurrency operations in Mersin-based 5 provinces in Turkey

It was determined that 73 cryptocurrencies with a total value of 54 million 654 thousand 443.52 dollars obtained from illegal betting were transferred to the UK via the TRNC.

In Turkey, 18 suspects, who were found to have mediated money transfer related to illegal betting in Mersin-based 5 provinces, were caught in the operation.

The teams of the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Cybercrime Branch Directorate started an investigation to catch the owners of the cryptocurrency wallets, who were found to be intermediating in money transfer related to illegal betting.

In this context, it was determined that 73 cryptocurrencies with a total value of 54 million 654 thousand 443.52 dollars obtained from illegal betting were transferred to England via the TRNC.

A simultaneous operation was carried out in Mersin-based Istanbul, Adana, Antalya and Izmir for the arrest of 38 suspects, who were identified as the owners of crypto money wallets, to which the money was transferred. 18 suspects were taken into custody during the raids on 23 addresses.
