10 people arrested without residence permit in Lefkosia are illegal for 1009 and 386 days

Ten people among those who were arrested over the weekend for living illegally in the TRNC were found to have stayed in the country for over 1,000 days.

On Friday night, the Turkish Cypriot police carried out a massive control across the country leading to the arrest of about 44 people.

They were brought to court on Monday following which they were sent to prison for a period not exceeding one month.  

It is stated that some of the suspects have lived illegally in the TRNC for 1009 days, while others have lived for 386 days.

On the other hand, three suspects were brought before the court on charges of entering the TRNC from an unapproved port.

Police officer who reported the incident at the court, said that 24-year-old SG's 286 days, 28-year-old JT's 320 days, 27-year-old ATS's 1009 days, 25-year-old SGN's 335 days, 22-year-old ELJ's 315 days in Nicosia. stated that 19-year-old GSB was found to be in the north of Cyprus for 335 days, 19-year-old YFM for 320 days and 29-year-old PC for 386 days without a residence permit. He said they were arrested as per the flagrante delicto state.

On the same day, the police determined that 27-year-old MCA had been in the TRNC for 109 days and 26-year-old Y.İ. had been in the country without a residence permit for 38 days, in the establishment called "Golden Pension" in Lefkosia, and as per the flagrante delicto state.

The police also reported that on October 21, in Alayköy Village Square, MHM, 34, MAA, 22, and AEH, 25, entered the northern part of Cyprus from an unidentified port that has not yet been identified, and were arrested due to their flagrante delicto.

The police stated that the part of the investigations that could affect the suspects has been completed and demanded that the suspects, who do not have legal status, be held in pretrial detention.
