28-year-old foreigner found in car boot while trying to enter south Cyprus illegally
A 28-year-old foreigner who was trying to enter south Cyprus illegally by hiding in the trunk of a car was detected by Greek Cypriot police at the border
The incident at the customs control point at the Kermiya (Aydemet) barricade between the north and the south on Monday night.
The 27-year-old driver of the car was held for custom checks at the border when the suspect was found in his car trunk.
During interrogation, the driver of the vehicle allegedly admitted to receiving some money to transport the 28-year-old to the south.
Both were arrested and sent to prison.
In another development, a Nigerian who wanted to go to the south was arrested by the military for violating a military forbidden zone.
The suspect, who is a student in the country had tried to enter south Cyprus illegally at about 3:00am on Tuesday, April, 5 when he was caught.
Police said he violated a First Degree Military Forbidden zone and was detained for 3 days on court order.
