Fuel and domestic gas prices in the TRNC will not change for now
Fuel prices and domestic gas price in the TRNC will not be increased in the near future.
This was made know in a statement by Şahap Aşıkoğlu, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Energy who stated that the problems experienced in the issue of domestic gas scarcity was due to logistics between distributors and marketers which has been overcome.
Şahapoğlu pointed out that there is no hike or reduction in bottled gas and fuel prices at the moment.
He stated that there were two reason responsible for the scarcity in domestic gas supply. He said the first reason was related to the distribution between distributors and the markets.
Stating that markets and grocery stores are making a loss from bottled gas sales due to the commission paid in credit card sales, Aşıkoğlu stated that markets and grocery stores do not want to sell bottled gas for this reason.
He said as the Ministry, they solved the problem by intermediating between wholesalers, intermediary institutions and markets.
Aşıkoğlu noted that the second reason for the problem was logistics, and that a ship that was supposed to arrive did not arrive. Pointing out that there are problems with logistics in the world, Aşıkoğlu said, “However, a ship arrived on Monday. A large amount of gas has arrived. Two more ships will arrive on January 20 and February 20," he said.
Stating that there is no hike or discount in bottled gas and fuel prices at the moment, Aşıkoğlu noted that bottled gas and fuel prices are determined according to the stock market price and dollar rate of that day, and that no discount can be made until the rate falls below the rate of the last pricing day.
