15-year-old girl abused by her stepfather in Girne

A man has been arrested for sexually harassing his step daughter in Girne.

The man identified only as B.R was arrested on Sunday, January, 16 following a complaint by the victim and was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Monday on charges of sexual harassment and child sexual abuse that took place in Girne.

Police in its statement said the suspect is the step father of the 15-year-old victim and live with the suspect and her mother in Girne.

The 15-year-old girl was taken to a social worker. Police said that the girl lived with her stepfather and mother for 6 months, during this time her stepfather told her that she had a beautiful physique, while she was holding her leg, and a week ago, when they were alone at home, he tried to kiss her on the lips.

Police also said in the girl's statement that on January 14, 2022, that her stepfather using the cold weather as an excuse, hugged her and told her that she said I love you, I can't do anything, I won't do anything against your will.

Stating that the girl ran away from home and took shelter with her girlfriend on the same day, the police stated that they found out that the complainant girl told her father, her sister and her friend whom she took shelter in their house. She told the incident to these three people first, and reported the incident by sending a message to her mother.

The police said that the young girl also said that she saw her stepfather using drugs in her statement. 

Police said the house was searched but no drugs were found. Police said that a blood sample was taken from the suspect for drug analysis.
