Man assaults wife out of jealousy in Famagusta

A man who assaulted his wife due to jealousy will face trial for domestic violence.

The man identified only as Ü.Ö, residing in Famagusta with his wife, at about 9:00am on Monday, December, 13 during an argument slapped his wife and squeezed her throat. 

The incident was reported to the police on Tuesday after which he was arrested and taken to a court in Famagusta on Wednesday on charge of serious assault. In response to the charges, the suspect told the court; "I do not accept".

The complainant was also checked by a doctor.

Police say the suspect, did it out of jealousy.

He was released on bail and banned from leaving the country. His passport was seized, to deposit the sum of 5,000 TL in cash, report to the police 1 day a week find two TRNC citizens to sign a 50,000 TL personal bail bonds.
