Man goes on rampage assaulting women and girls in Lefkosa

A man who came to the island as a tourist about two months ago is been held for sexually assaulting children and women. 

The suspect identified as Salman, came to the island as a tourist two months ago and sexually assaulted some children and women he saw on the street.

Police in a report said the suspect at around 7:30pm on Thursday, October, 28, sexually abused a 15-year-old girl who was walking on a street in Lefkosa.

Also on Saturday, October, 30, the suspect reportedly stole 250 dollars, 1 gold necklace, Turkish ID card, TRNC ID card and an ID card belonging to a woman's son from her bag in Merit Casino in Lefkosa.

In another incident, the suspect sexually assaulted a 32-year-old woman who was walking on the road in the Surlarici region of Lefkosa on Monday, November 1.

Another woman, a 43-year-old was sexually abused by the same person in Lefkosa at about 12.40 am on the same day. The woman said the suspect assaulted by verbally by swearing.

Not done with his escapades, the suspect on the same day sexually assaulted two teenage girls, 15 who were walking in a street in Lefkosa. 

The suspect was identified and was arrested on Tuesday. He was taken to court on charges of "Sexually abusing a Child, Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, Battering and Improper Attitude". Police said investigation into the matter has just begun. Camera footage will be taken and examined.

Speaking in court, the suspect said, “My friend told me about the circa. I did. I came two months ago. I don't know the ways." 

He was ordered to be detained for 3 days for more investigations to be carried out.
