Student stabs another in the chest in Girne

A student who decided to take the law into his own hands by stabbing and causing an injury to a fellow student in the chest with a knife will remain in detention pending trial.

The incident happened at about 11:50pm on Friday, October, 23 in Girne.

The suspect, a 25 year old Nigerian who is a student in the island reportedly stabbed a fellow on his chest with a fruit knife in his possession in front of an apartment in Girne while they were discussing.

He was later arrested on Saturday with a pending warrant and taken to court.

Investigation by the police revealed that he is an illegal resident and has been living in the island illegally since September, 2020.

The police, said that the investigation into the incident is continuing and there are statements that should be taken and requested that he be detained for 3 days for investigation purposes.
