New law can help control high rents in North Cyprus

High house rents in northern Cyprus can be controlled if the necessary law is approved by the government.

Speaking on the rent issue with Yeniduzen, President of the Turkish Cypriot Realtors Association, Hasan Sungur, said “If the new law passes, we will be able to control the rents”

Sungur said the biggest problem in the north of Cyprus is that a renewed Union and license law has not come into force yet.

Sungur, noted that there are too many 'fake real estate agents' and they cannot be audited due to the lack of law.

Sungur said: “The old law prevents the supervision of rents from being carried out by the Union. That's why we made a new law and we put some clauses in this new law to impose serious compensation sanctions against real estate agents defrauding tenants.

In fact, the law was ready and approved by the necessary authorities, but the government thought process was left unfinished. If we can enact the new law as soon as possible, we, as the Union, will be able to control illegal real estate agents and prevent over-renting for houses.
