India variant of Covid-19 now in TRNC, online vaccine appointment cancelled

The Delta variant first identified in Indian has been found in the TRNC while online appointment for vaccinations against Covid-19 will no longer be required for those who want to be vaccinated and will be scrapped this week, TRNC, Prime Minister Ersan has said. 

Saner made the announcement on Saturday during a political tour of Gulzeyurt. 

Ersan Saner said so far, 340,000 doses of vaccine have been received from Turkey, and that 220,000 TRNC citizens have received the first dose of vaccine. 

From this week onwards, anyone who wishes to be vaccinated, can be vaccinated without online appointment, he said.

In another news, the head of Chest Diseases Clinic, Dr. Mustafa Akansoy drew attention to the increasing number of Covid cases. 

New variants of Covid-19 were coming to the country, including the Delta variant, he said. He expressed his concern that many people had pandemic “fatigue” and no longer followed the rules of social distancing, mask wearing and hand hygiene.

Health Minister, Ünal Üstel called on the public to be vaccinated in order to increase the immunity of the society. He said from Monday, July 5, 2021, everyone over the age of 18 will be vaccinated in all centers.

Üstel reminded that Covid-19 antigen tests are carried out free of charge in private laboratories contracted by the Ministry of Health, and that the documents of the rapid antigen test results can be obtained from the same address by entering the barcode number, identity or passport information, and the report document can be obtained as pdf.
