Everyone in TRNC acting as if there is no corona virus - Minister of Health

Everyone in TRNC is acting as if there is no corona virus as a high number of cases emerged at weddings, closed sporting venues, gaming venues and entertainment venues, said Minister of Health.

Health Minister, Ünal Üstel who took part in a televised program on BRT on Thursday warned that everyone was acting as though there was no corona virus.

He stated that they do not foresee a new closure process, as the government is working with all healthcare professionals in order to prevent another lockdown.

Üstel also noted that in order to encourage people to get vaccinated they have prevented those who have not been vaccinated from entering venues.

Üstel called on the public to abide by the rules and be stringent.

He stated that 35-40 percent of the public has been vaccinated, and their goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of the public which they aim to reach by the end of August.

He noted that 10,000 BioNTech vaccines have been received from Turkey and that efforts to vaccinate 6000 healthcare workers had begun, Üstel said that they planned to use the remaining vaccines on those who have severe chronic illnesses.

“There are many vaccination centers throughout the TRNC” said Üstel and added that the problem is directing and encouraging people to be vaccinated.

“If we get vaccinated we can open the way of the country. We should give importance to vaccinations and learn to live with this disease” said Üstel.
