Man caught trying to rape a stray dog in Kyrenia

A man over the age of 50 was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police on Sunday for allegedly raping a stray dog in Kyrenia.

According to report by the police, the man identified only as G.D was arrested at about 7:10am on Sunday, June, 6 at Baldöken car Park, belonging to the Kyrenia Municipality after he was caught trying to rape a stray dog.

The man who was also found to be drunk was taken to court afterwards on charges of  Sexual Relationship with an animals and drunkenness.”

Police officer who testified in court said the suspect was caught red-handed when they went to the scene after eyewitnesses called the police.

The police officer said they have started investigation into the incident adding that eyewitnesses' statements will be taken, as well as the camera footage will be reviewed. 

Police said the dog is in good health.

Speaking in court, the suspect said, "I was drunk, I don't remember, there was another person with me and he escaped."

Judge Şevket Gazi ordered the suspect to remain in police custody for 2 days for investigation purposes.
