Illegal foreigner held for kidnapping friend over unpaid debt in Lefkosa

A foreigner has been arrested for kidnapping another by force, on the ground that he did not pay his debt.

The suspect identified only as P.K committed the crime at 11:00am in Tanzimat Street, Lefkosa on Monday, May, 31, 2021.

He was arrested and taken to a court in Lefkosa on Tuesday on charges of kidnapping and residing in the TRNC without permission. 

Police said P.K kidnapped the victim identified only as J.S by force in Lefkosa, on the grounds that he was owing him 37, 000 Euros. He forced him into a vehicle, that has not yet been identified and drove him to Famagusta.

Police said investigation into the matter revealed that the suspect has been residing in the TRNC without permission since February, 14, 2020.

He was detained for three days so that investigation can be conducted safely.
